History[edit | edit source]
Coming off F25's success the team was eager to improve further. However, F26's first speedbump was quickly met. Historically, the top 10 teams from the previous Michigan competition received automatic invites back and were given the car number of their overall finishing position. Therefore, the team expected F26 to be car #3. Controversially, SAE switched from a first-come-first-serve sign-up method to a lottery- only accepting 120 teams. SAE also claimed all numbers would be randomly given out and the top 10 teams would not be guaranteed admission. This came as a great disappointment to the team as we expected to be doing it for Dale. The first relief came when it was revealed the top 10 teams actually would be guaranteed admission. Then in a bomb shell decision, the top 10 teams did actually receive their expected numbers. SAE successfully ragebaited us.
